In the summer events of the Cultural Association Limenaria «To Kastro» will celebrate the official Ambassador of Greece to UNESCO, Vassilis Vassilikos.
Today the brand new ANETH ferry will be on the route between Keramoti and Limenas (Thassos Town).
Thassos VIII is a super-sized island ferry with all the modern amenities one could want, including escalators, aircraft type seating and television screens across the well-equipped lounges.

Thassos Festival this year concludes half a century of cultural and artistic contribution. Each year it attracts thousands of Greek and foreign visitors. The festival is about a big celebration of arts and civilization. It gives its spectators an opportunity to enjoy remarkable theatrical shows, dancing activities, and art functions that are a form of purification for the creator as well as for those who enjoy it. Art is the main way of spiritual cultivation and it performs as a way of fulfilling human existance. Thinking in this direction, Thassos welcomes you this year and calls you to participate with your presence in a culturul effort that really has a lot to give! The Thassos Festival 2008 books (visible on the right) are available at multiple locations around Thassos. One of the locations is the Kalogeriko building in Thassos Town. The books have all the information you will need about the festivities of 2008, including dates, times, prices, and details of events and artists. In Thassos is held from today until Saturday the 15th of September, the 8th International Convention of Astronomy, that the Greek Astronomical Company and Dimokriteio University Thrace organise. This year's convention is dedicated in the anniversary of 50 years from the exploration of Space, in other words from the day that Sputnik was sent into Space, the first artificial satellite that went in orbit around earth. This event is supported by the "Hyperprefecture" of Drama-Kavala-Xanthi, the Prefecture of Kavala, the Municipality of Thassos and the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

The harbour and police measures were very big. Beyond the small “army” the former president of the USA, many police and harbour authorities of the region will discreetly protect the harbour region in the Ormo Eleutheron and the wider marine region in the gulf of Kavala and followingly in northern Aegean. Mr Bush and his escorts, a few hours after their arrival in the Turama, left for a cruise in the northern Aegean. The first days include a tour around Thassos and already the luxurious ship was seen in the open sea of the southern island.
The former leader of the world will remain in Greece up to 14th of June, while in his program, according to journalistic information, is also included a worship visit in Mount Athos.
It is noted that Mr Bush had come once again in Kavala in August 2004, when he had arrived in our country in order to watch the Start ceremony and certain events of the Athens Olympic Games. And then, had been followed the same program of hospitality, while the prefecture of Kavala constitutes the first stop of reception and the point of departure of Mr Bush for the USA. An other visit intervened, the summertime of 2005.
On the 14th or 15th of June will be presented in Kavala the events program of this year's Thassos Festival, which is organized by the Municipality of the island. The organizing passed from "forty waves" because the known problems that resulted from -the unheaded until now- municipal enterprise of tourism and culture of Thassos Municipality.
On the island will be hosted this year 14 events, from which 6 theatrical presentations that will go up in the Ancient Theatre of Limenas. The most standing out musical event will be the concert of Giannis Parios.
The events begin on the 30th of June and will be completed in the end of August. Their cost is calculated to be 300.000 Euros, without still being clarified the precise height of sponsorings by institutions of State, which gave on the one side promises, not however and their signatures…
